Michigan Football: Elite or Overrated?

Postby saturdaysarebetter » Mon Feb 25, 2019 7:44 am

With only one-half of a national championship since 1950, is Michigan football elite or overrated?

Over rated and over valued.

Not only just 1/2 of one National Championship since WWII, but no Conference Championships since....2004.

But, Harbaugh does lead the nation in racking up international frequent flier miles.

Only speaking for myself, but I really don't consider prior-playoff NCs as a gauge as to whether a cfb team is elite. Sure they make for good discussion points, but they aren't a be all, end all either.

And, yes, that is exclusively due to lingering bitterness about how Penn State has been historically treated by the subjective polls, etc.

Crowbar, how do you count '81 as a national championship? I realize at the end of the year we were playing the best football in the country with wins over Pitt and USC, but we had two losses from Miami and Alabama that happened after week six I believe.

Since I can't do multiple links on the same post:

Obviously this one needs to be updated, but you get the point.

I was at the 81 game - my first year in Arizona. My sister's boyfriend gave me the ticket. I think it was a cold, crappy day. That was the first of many games I saw PSU win in Tempe.
